My head was screaming while I was looking at the photos of Mary Frances’ handbag line on her website. But I can’t decide if I love what I saw or if I did not like it. But I do know, I’ve never seen bags as elaborately designed as these.
They are absolutely crazy! And I still don’t know if that’s crazy in a good way or crazy, as in, crazy!!!
If you do carry around bags designed with so many embellishments and colors like this collection from Mary Frances, the way my mind was screaming is probably the kind of reaction you’ll get from the people around you.
These handbags are definite scene stealers and it takes a really special, stylish person to pull off carrying these and incorporate it in their wardrobe.
What I can say though, is that I really, really, really love the uniqueness of these designs. These bags take the phrase, “There’s nothing quite like it!” up a notch! Not even a Leiber handbag comes close. This is a whole new level of design.
Mary Frances is a long-time accessories designer and her pieces are sold in over 3,000 stores all over the world. Many of her clients see her pieces as collector’s items and celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Oprah Winfrey and Paris Hilton have worn her bags at one point.

This Nancy Gonzalez tote is eyecatching. And I was gonna say how much the design offers so much space for the user, until a friend noted that this isn’t the first time she has seen a bag like it.
In fact, there had been another release of this bag, with its extra flappy sides (yes, those wings are THE main feature!), from Celine, which came out with its envelope tote bag a couple of months back:
Although they differ in a few elements, such as the material (croc leather for the Gonzalez bag), the handles and Celine’s front pockets come with the hardware clasp, you can’t help but do a double take for this handbag and wonder if who copied whom.
Similar designs are not new to this industry. In fact, that’s basically what dictates fashion. Some people are actually saying the design for Celine’s envelope tote is also an inspired copy, or rather, a variation, of another handbag design.
Which one do you prefer between these two?
I have to say I’m partial to the Nancy Gonzalez design, in spite looking like it’s the copycat, because I like its clean and simple construction better. The Celine envelope luggage just seems a bit bulkier for me.

Satchel shaped handbags are so popular now and I imagine it will remain to be popular in the months to come. A favorite bag brand by many, Coach has released its latest satchel design.
One look and you can definitely say that this handbag is a beauty. It looks stylish and sturdy. It beautifully combines gold and mixed metal hardware with its caramel leather. The satchel also looks roomy and versatile. You can wear it with anything and use it when you’re going to be out with friends for weekend shopping, or on a business meeting at the boardroom. It’s the kind of handbag you can effortlessly shift into from work to weekends.
My only issue with this beautifully styled bag? It may take me minutes to open it. I still find totes the most convenient because you can just throw anything in there. This one’s not good when I’m rushing at the cashier counter, and that’s the only reason why I’m not so sold on this.

I saw a photo of one of Ismachseven’s bag designs in a friend’s iPhone file. She snapped this while she saw this in a shop in Florida and has been keeping it on her phone to serve as inspiration. The bag looks really gorgeous and so I got curios when she told me to check out Ismachseven’s collections online.
And on their official site, I saw some of these designs:
They truly are wonderful pieces with a style that’s very distinct. Ismachseven is a fusion of ideas from the East and West. All the bags have a certain Japanese-Indian or English-French touch, and the marriage of these cultures on the bag designs is just perfect.
The pieces look luxurious and the colors are vivid and out of the ordinary.
I’m gonna be on the look out for Ismachseven even more and dare I wonder which celebrity is going to come out toting one of these bags one day.
From the official site:
Unique design, custom craftsmanship and a spectrum of fabrics, trimmings and styles are the creative cornerstones of IsmachSeven. With a keen eye, trained to find inspiration in the most varied, and often unexpected places, designers Mercedes and Isabella bring refreshing originality to each of their creations. The exclusivity of the brand is reflected in details such as Japanese zippers, English linings, handles crafted from the finest Italian leathers and a combination of Indian, French and Thai fabrics, to name just a few. One is as inclined to find earrings from the native-American Zuni tribe or parts of Art Deco lamps in one piece, as she is to find hunting batons from the African tribe of the Massai or weaves from nomad tribes from the Himalayas in another. Each handbag is a unique statement piece that allows a woman to reflect any of the wonderful facets of her personality. But each shares the underlying extraordinary vision and passion, which has quickly come to define the IsmachSeven name. Designers: ISABELLA DELFINO MERCEDES MACHADO

I’m ecstatic!
I know these handbags may seem a bit like kids’ handbags to many of you but that’s exactly why I like them so much. They bring back fun and sweet memories from my childhood.
Jimmy and Patty are Sanrio characters, much lesser known than Hello Kitty and this bag is just perfect for those who collect them. It comes from a Japanese online shop, the HbG, but the bag’s design looks to be inspired by the Kelly Bag by Birkin, hence it also has a touch of sophistication. Childlike and sophisticated…how cool is that?
I also love how the bag is made from the inside with its colorful prints. It also comes with goldtone hardware and heart shaped key lock for accent and style.
These handbags are still on pre-order and comes to 32,000 yen each or roughly US$380.
