The Cambridge Satchel Co. Patterned Handbags
Aug 10th, 2011

I’m glad I got over my obsession for school bag satchels, which is why I didn’t get the handbag when Cambridge Satchels was the rage a couple of months back. The novelty of it got old for me pretty quickly. And seeing as a lot of people have been donning their Cambridge Satchels and look-a-likes everywhere, it was time to pick another design that didn’t look like the bag everyone was carrying.

I guess, Cambridge Satchel also thought it was time to update their famous handbag’s design with this limited release of the Cambridge Satchel with patterns.

I have to say that this really draws the line for me, as it looks almost so much like a grade schooler’s bag now. It would be hard to pair this off with something from my wardrobe, given that I’m thirty something.

This would be perfect as gifts to my nieces who are still in high school and college, though. These handbags are complete representations of the youth market.

Vintage Doctor’s Bag Oversized 1930′s Leather
Jun 20th, 2011

Well, this bag is a real find and the leather is said to be sourced out in the province of France. The piece is unbranded but it’s constructed in high quality. You won’t find quite anything like it.

Its design is patterned after a classic doctor’s handbag, only that it is extremely large and works best as an evening bag. It’s also vintage inspired and looks something as if it was unearthed from the 1930′s.

The leather’s quality looks really astonishing. It comes in its natural tawny red shade. There are leather straps that fasten this handbag to keep it secure and the base has studs so that you can put it down without worrying the leather under it scratches off.

This piece is quite unassuming, because there are no logos or brands screaming all across its vast outer leather. It’s also very practical to carry around for a short weekend trip. I believe the bag is roomy enough to store all of your essentials.

This is a find from ASOS Marketplace, which I didn’t know existed and I’m now just discovering, has tons of good finds.

Reed Krakoff Handbags for the Stylish & Sensible Woman
May 24th, 2011

If you love the style sensibilities of Coach handbags, then you must love these bags from Reed Krakoff. They’re not one and the same, but Reed Krakoff handbags are also part of Coach’s lineup because the designer is actually the President of Coach.

What strikes me first when I saw these handbags from this label was that they look really functional and sophisticated. The designs are simple but striking. You can’t find any of those logo-driven designs that most of Coach’s handbag are made into. The brand takes inspiration from vintage and classic style markers. The bags are especially similar to Hermes pieces, except better priced in terms of affordability, and there’s more variety in style.

These are available at Net A Porter.
One design I really love is this gorgeous satchel in Claret Haircalf, released sometime last year.

I love the deep color of it and the design is, of course a classic (it does look like an Hermes, huh?).

I’m just not sure if this design is still available because the brand’s spring and summer for 2011 are already out and they are just as beautiful.

You can also check for Reed Krakoff handbags at the official site.

I’m not sure if it’s still available in the market, though.

Bag Trend Spring 2011: Colorblocking
Mar 14th, 2011

One thing I love about spring fashion is that it’s okay to get wild and crazy over colors and designs and not look odd or weird wearing it this way. And this year, it’s particularly interesting because even handbags are going the way of colorblocking.

Colorblocking has dominated spring fashion lines in the past, except that it’s been mostly applied to clothes. But now it’s also on handbags and recent runway shows have presented quite an interesting selection for it.

The handbags are from Prada and Dior.

Colorblocking is simply a style that presents different colors in different blocks in one piece. What’s interesting about it is that the colors can be the unlikeliest combination you can think of, and the designer can actually make the style work.

This is a whole new and refreshing way to spice up your spring wardrobe. Don’t you just love colorblocking?
