It happens to all of us. The rain comes, we are outside and we don’t have an umbrella. When this happens to me, I often find myself using the bag I own, which sometimes ruins it. Well, the rainy season isn’t about to come but it’s probably best to prepare early and invest in a bag like this one. It’s great for putting in important documents that you don’t want wet, too.
And even if it isn’t raining, the bag makes a great grocery or shopping bag anyway. It’s very useful. The bag is $68 at Yanko Designs.

We featured a Birkin inspired bag created by Banane Taipei the other day and as it turns out, there’s another kind of Birkin bag available. New York Times actually calls it the IT bag for this spring season:
This is the Together Bag from Roni Brunn and Olena Sholomytska, who are behind Thursday Friday, the company that sells this.
Just like the Banane, this is made of canvas, but it has a glossier finish. Its color choices are limited to three — blue, red and brown. Whereas the Banane has more variety and colors closer to the actual Birkin.
The Together bag, however, costs a lot cheaper. Only $35, this bag is so sought after that orders have been piling up and there’s a long waiting list for this one.
But which do you like better? The Banane Taipei variation or this Together Bag variation of the Birkin?
Nope, these aren’t actual Birkins from Hermes. But it’s probably the next best thing to owning one, without costing an arm and a leg.
The Banane handbag is actually made of eco-friendly canvas and comes with the photo of the famous luxury bag on it. These are hand-made from Taiwan and would be very convenient and fashionable to have for the summer. According to the Banane site, the hand-made process is tedious and very detailed that the bags aren’t mass produced.
These are priced at about $49.99 and ships to the USA for about $20.
You can order Banane here (use a Google Translator for the site).
This site isn’t affiliated nor profiting from this marketing analysis for handbags. I actually just saw this online, while checking my feed reader. But I thought those in the industry or those who have intentions of getting into the bag industry, will find this report helpful. It’s one way of getting ideas to how handbag designers and manufacturers can merchandise their products better.
It says on the report summary:
The US handbags market witnessed a decline in growth in 2008 and 2009 because of the global economic slowdown. The financial recession not only caused a fall in domestic demand, but also led to a fall in exports. The EU handbags market consists of six major markets – Italy, France, the UK, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands – which collectively account for the majority share in sales and production of handbags. In EU, handbags are mainly sold through specialist chain and independent retailers. The US and EU handbag market is all set to witness a growth in the coming years as result of huge export demand from countries like China and India and also as a result of improving economic conditions in their domestic as well as international markets. The report discusses the handbag market and presents an analysis of the US and European markets. The report also profiles the major companies operating in the industry, with a special focus on their business strategies. The report further analyzes the major trends and growth drivers of the industry.

When you reach a certain age and become a mother, shopping sometimes poses a challenge. You have to find age-appropriate stuff to avoid getting those disapproving looks from other people. Like, I’d like to wear a tutu skirt, except that it only looks great for thirteen years old.
The problem, I find, is that sometimes, age-appropriate stuff for mothers and those nearly in their 40′s may mean matronly and old-looking. They may also mean safe design and boring colors.
Although there are a lot of choices for handbags these days, one style or design isn’t always going to work for some types of people. I mean, I love those Juicy Couture and Betty Johnson pieces, but some of it do not seem to be the right kind of bag to bring during PTA meetings. You know what I mean?
I notice that most mothers my age always go with the basic black or brown bags as their everyday bag. And usually, these bags come with the most unimaginative designs. A pocket here, one or two gold hardware pieces there…and that’s about it.
Which is why I’ve set my sights on anything Kate Spade offers, when it comes to handbags.
Kate Spade bags come in colorful shades and cute design. It isn’t so colorful that you would have a hard time matching it with any other outfit. And it isn’t too cute, you would think it’s better for a nine year old to use it. The come in the right sizes, too. You can put most of your crap in it, and no one would suspect because from the outside, the bags look gorgeous.
Kate Spade bags are classy classics. For moms out there, these bag brings volume of style and functionability.
