Gucci’s Handbags Resort Collection 2012
Nov 3rd, 2011

Gucci’s latest collection, its resort line for 2012 feature bold colors and lots of textures. The textures come in a form of animal prints, with the zebra print being the most dominant. There are actually over a dozen zebra printed handbags to their set, such as this Gucci Marrakech Medium Zebra Print Haircalf Tote, a popular favorite:

The line has an assortment of styles and designs, but my particular favorite is this Gucci Diana Bamboo Medium Tote Bag, which looks pretty basic and functional. I just love the color for next season and I like the bamboo handles a lot.

More designs below. I imagine these clutches and the snakeskin handbag will be favorite picks as well.

The Gucci Resort Collection for 2012 is now available for pre-order at Sak’s but the items won’t be shipping out until Spring of next year.

Bag Trend Alert: Going Vintage
Aug 3rd, 2011

Vintage handbags are always in style, that’s what I think. They don’t actually follow a trend, because a vintage handbag is akin to individuality. These kinds of handbags have such characters, that they exude quite distinct and impressionable styles.

So many designers today take inspiration from vintage fashion. You could see lots of “vintage” handbags that carry brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci or Coach and they are mass-produced.

Take for instance, this Marc Jacobs vintage-inspired piece.

It’s rich two-tone leather, plus the actual structure of the bag perfectly encapsulates what vintage handbags are about. This handbag was released as part of Marc Jacob’s Crosby Collection.

But a truly vintage handbag doesn’t come from a famous name-brand and is about 50 years old, never manufactured or made presently. And a few people only have such handbags, and it’s never mass-produced. So it’s somewhat rare and unique, as well as made of high quality leather, in spite of its age. It has that kind of leather that smells really musky, it’s love!

Some vintage handbags are so intricately designed, they look really, really fashionable. Here’s another example of a vintage inspired design released by Fossil, which combines leather and calf hair, it looks really gorgeous.

And here’s one from Roberta di Camerino, its Large Caravel Vintage Belt Bag with contrasting colors. Lovely, fun yet still classy and elegant.

And lastly, a vintage-inspired Kate Spade handbag in sunny yellow! This is Kate Spade’s New York Bixby Bag. What’s not to love?

Gucci’s Snaffle Bit Flap Handbag
Jul 26th, 2011

Bravo Gucci! I think they have truly done themselves proud with this Snaffle Bit collection. Released for Spring and Summer 2011, the Snaffle Bit is inspired by plenty of things — equestrian heritage, Morocco, fine craftsmanship.

The result? This truly lovely satchel bag that perfectly combines traditional style with innovative influences. There’s plenty to love about it.

First, craftsmanship is really something else. The handbag is painstakingly handmade, weaved and whipstitched. All the details to it, like the perforated leather, the knots, the fringed tassel and the bamboo beads, make this handbag truly something to admire.

Second, the handbag comes in rich, exciting colors, which is unpredictable of the brand. Gucci commonly sticks with safer colors, but the Snaffle Bit is different. It comes in purple, brown, jade and orange, colors you wouldn’t expect to see from the brand, with the exception of brown, of course.

With all the infusions in the design, you would think the handbag’s style would go overboard and overpower someone’s wardrobe ensemble. But everything has been well-thought of and so put together. The details complement each other, resulting in a gorgeous handbag.

Who can resist this beauty, huh?

The handbag comes in small ($1,880) and medium ($3,300) at Sak’s Fifth Avenue.

Gucci’s Bamboo Night Clutchbag
Jun 8th, 2011

I’ve just seen photos of Gucci’s fall and winter line for their handbag collection and the most dominant feature for this is its bamboo top handle. Many of their bag designs for this set come with it but the one style that really stood out to me is the evening clutchbag.

The piece’s size is so cute, as it is only about 15 cm wide. But it is, well…extravagantly elegant, to say the least. The design is exquisite.

The black version is made of snakeskin leather. Gorgeous! Featured with a leather bow and gold hardware accent to complement the bamboo top handle, this looks really sophisticated and classy.

Another style comes in gold diamante fabric, which I think is trendier than the black one. The latter is more fitting to those with classic taste.

Whichever evening bag you choose, I think it’s safe to say that you’re going out with style with this perfect clutchbag. The chain straps are detachable, so you can carry this a different way.

Though it’s an evening bag, I think it would work to wear it during day time as well, provided it’s matched with the right pieces in the wardrobe. I can definitely see this on someone wearing dressy shorts and a blazer.

Which one do you like better?

Gucci Updates Their Sukey Tote For Unicef
Jun 3rd, 2011

Last year, Gucci’s Sukey handbag, which has been especially designed for their Unicef projects, looked like this:

This year, the brand has updated the Sukey, giving it a deeper chocolate brown color and a slightly vintage and boxier form:

The Sukey is a best-seller for the brand. And with every purchase of this, 25% of the cost goes to Gucci’s funds for its UNICEF outreach programs.

The brand has been committed to helping the organization since seven years ago. And the money they bring in helps UNICEF builds schools in Africa, where many children affected with HIV get their education.

The Sukey handbag comes with the trademark 1935 Diamante motif and for this style, the motif is embossed in the material. It also comes with hardware that features the brand’s insignia.

The handbag will be available for sale beginning June of 2011, until February next year. And then a new design should be out again following this.

For more details you can go to the Gucci-UNICEF site.
