Every once in a while, I find an oddly-shaped handbag that I think is worth a feature here on the blogs, just because it is simply interesting. I never know how to use bags that are designed so frivolously. But because they look different and whimsical, owning one is probably worth it.
This piece from Bodhi is one of those handbags I could classify as odd. Just take a look at how it’s formed:
With it’s name, it’s safe to say that this was inspired by Asian temples, particularly Japanese Temple. This handbag simply draws attention because of the way it is constructed.

Satchel shaped handbags are so popular now and I imagine it will remain to be popular in the months to come. A favorite bag brand by many, Coach has released its latest satchel design.
One look and you can definitely say that this handbag is a beauty. It looks stylish and sturdy. It beautifully combines gold and mixed metal hardware with its caramel leather. The satchel also looks roomy and versatile. You can wear it with anything and use it when you’re going to be out with friends for weekend shopping, or on a business meeting at the boardroom. It’s the kind of handbag you can effortlessly shift into from work to weekends.
My only issue with this beautifully styled bag? It may take me minutes to open it. I still find totes the most convenient because you can just throw anything in there. This one’s not good when I’m rushing at the cashier counter, and that’s the only reason why I’m not so sold on this.

Flagship Leather Flap Satchel by Coach
Spotted on the set of Gossip Girl, which is currently filming a new season, is Leighton Meester carrying this chic and stylish handbag. It looks quite vintage, but works and fits into today’s trends. The bag is very structured and very sleek, with that signature bow you almost always see in a Valentino bag. The bow can make or break the style, but for this particular handbag, it actually works.
There are many variations to this. Some come in a smaller size, while there’s a design that comes with animal prints and a slight change in the shape.
Wearing this, I feel it really brings out your most feminine side. Take a peak at how it looks inside. It’s compact and quite small, but perfect for matching with clothes that deliver a most refined look.

Valentino’s Aprhrodite Satchel, As Seen On Gossip Girl
Military inspired style is such a big hit with fashion. It’s always something that goes in and out of the trends and for this coming fall, I’ve got a feeling that it will be so in again.
There have been lots of designer handbags that have come out styled so perfectly fitted for military inspired wear, in its structure and colors. Below are just some examples:
Halogen® ‘Military’ Leather Satchel
This handbag is featured with cargo flap pockets and belted straps in a classic khaki colored leather. It’s a very functional and compartmentalized bag which can be carried via its double handles or crossed over the body with the straps. I love how perfect this is for everyday use, especially if I get tired of carrying a tote with me.

Featuring buckle straps and side cinch tassles, this Nicole Lee Military purse takes a different twist to military inspired fashion. Michael Kors does away with subtlety and really comes up with a handbag with the military camouflage. Despite the lack of compartments, this doctor-shaped bag is roomy and spacious inside. This is available at Michael Kors or at Lord & Taylor.
4 Military Inspired Handbags
Nichole Richie’s House Of Harlow is adding a new set of fashion items to her growing fashion line. The brand is first and foremost an accessories brand, but this coming Fall, it will be coming out with its own handbag collection. And these are just some of the clutches that will be up for sale.
According to reports, House of Harlow’s handbag collection will boast of 14 pieces of clutches, cross body bags and hobos. I’m actually excited to see the other designs, considering how much I like House of Harlow’s boho inspired style. The brand is known for its throwback to 1960′s, which is also a personal preference of Nicole Richie.
She says to the press:
“Handbags have always been a part of the equation since we first launched the House of Harlow 1960 brand. We just needed to make sure all of the components were aligned before setting foot into that category. The collection is quite small in terms of the styles we are launching with. I wanted to make sure that each piece is special and then be able to grow it slowly and organically season after season.”
The handbags will make use of vintage leather and calf hair for its designs. Some pieces will also infuse studs and jaguar heads, said to be a favorite animal of the celebrity entrepreneur.
House of Harlow handbags will be available this July at stores like Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Shopbop.com.
